Here's how we're taking action in our community:

Here's how we got the idea:
It was something that needed to be done!
These are the steps we took:
We spent MANY hours in the garden over the summer planning, prepping, weeding and planting the butterfly garden at Red Hill. This space is the desiginated area for my first grade class when we visit the garden. I learned about milkweed and the importance of it and saw some butterflies visit as soon as we planted it! I also was part of a team that spent several hours/days cleaning up our Red Hill campus. On these days, I cleaned up trash with my friends, pulled weeds and helped to put down mulch.
Here are some of the results:
There are several butterflies in the garden already and we have one Monarch chrysalis.
These are the people who volunteered with me:
My family
One of the coolest things that happened during my project was:
I liked when my mom got us ice cream afterwards one day when it was really, really hot!
One of the most important things I learned was:
Learning the benefits of working hard!
