Here's how we're taking action in our community:
We are taking action in our community by designing and creating washi tape pencils to sell as a fundraiser to earn money towards brain tumor research. Our money raised will support Team TAN (Tough as Nails) and their goal of raising money for the National Brain Tumor Society.
Here's how we got the idea:
Our idea came from Matt Ciecek wanting to give back and take part in the Ripple Kids event. He asked some wonderful friends to join him and together they made the washi tape pencils. We have a dear friend who is still battling the side effects of having a brain tumor removed and we plan to take the money raised to support his team for the National Brain Tumor Society walk in September.
These are the steps we took:
We purchased washi tape, pencils and pends, and pens
Organized friends and dates available
Decorated the pencils and pens with the washi tape
Sold the pencils and pens at our Arroyo '16 Ripple Kids fair
Here are some of the results:
We raised $80 for Team TAN and the National Brain Tumor Society
