A: A Ripple Kid is a kid who has identified an issue in the community and has taken action to resolve it. While there are plenty of groups who are actively involved in their community that warrant recognition for their efforts, our goal is to acknowledge those kids who have initiated the action in order to resolve an issue. Note: there may be instances where a child has identified an issue and taken it to a larger group to resolve (Boy Scouts, etc.). He would still be considered a Ripple Kid because he came up with the idea. Conversely, a child who goes along with that same group to pick up trash would not be considered a Ripple Kid if he is not initiating the action.
